India-China Dispute: Courage and righteousness will prevail
by Jaibans Singh on 14 Jul 2020 17 Comments

In the Mahabharata, the Kaurava Army had better warriors and generals than the Pandavas; their forces were also much larger and better trained. It was on this strategic calculation that Prince Duryodhana decided to fight against the Pandavas. The Pandavas won because they had Dharma (Righteousness) on their side. The Kaurava Generals were not convinced about the righteousness and justification of the claims made by Prince Duryodhana; they were fighting more due to pledged loyalty than a conviction for the cause. This weakness led to their destruction and that of the entire Kaurava Army.

If we apply the same template to the situation between India and China, we can conclude that the Chinese are going through the paces with a distinct lack of conviction. To move from mainland China through thousands of kms of Chinese Occupied Tibet (COT) and Chinese Occupied East Turkestan (COET) and then lay claim on territory that has been a part of another country for millennia, is neither righteous nor justified. There is also no support for the cause from the Chinese people. Such a misadventure, therefore, distinctly lacks courage of conviction and has left the Chinese soldiers confused and scared; their resolve to fight stands seriously eroded. Their situation, therefore, is the same as that of the Kaurava army - the strength is there but courage of conviction is lacking.

The Indian Army, on the other hand, is fighting for a cause that is absolutely righteous, justified and close to the heart of all Indian nationals who are backing their forces completely. Ladakh is a region which our noble ancestors gave their lives to defend in 1962. There is no way that the present generation of Indian soldiers will let down their ancestors. Indian Army, therefore, is in the same situation as the Pandava Army.

The nation’s morale received a considerable boost when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ladakh on July 3. He met the injured soldiers in hospital and gave a very motivating speech to the troops deployed in the region. “Our enemies have seen your fire and also your fury,” he said. “Your courage is higher than the heights where you are serving today… Not only me, the entire nation believes in you. We all are proud of you”. More significantly, the Prime Minister quoted the Bhagwad Gita, “Veer Bhogya Vasundhara” which means “the brave shall inherit the world”, and in an oblique reference to Chinese perfidy said, “This is the era of development. The whole world has made up its mind against expansionism.”

Earlier, a lucid insight was given by Ram Madhav, national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, in the course of a discussion with prominent domain experts through a Webinar. He said that China is pursuing a military doctrine of “victory without war” as advocated by their legendary strategist Sun Tsu. The attempt is to register nibbling land grab victories against India without firing a bullet. This is the reason behind China not agreeing to the demarcation of the LAC and yet not firing a single bullet over the last many decades.

Ram Madhav said that the ruling NDA Government has adopted a counter policy of claiming ownership of the LAC as perceived by her. The circumstances have made untenable the nibbling policy that China had so successfully applied for decades and which saw them, in 2013, coming 19 kms into Indian territory in Depsang and pitching tents. The Government of India, under the BJP, will always strive for peace, but with self respect. India will not accept humiliating compromises anymore and if this makes China prone to misadventures then India will respond adequately and assertively. An application of this policy and posture has been witnessed in Doklam earlier and in Eastern Ladakh now. “We do not want war, but we will not settle for the peace of the graveyard,” Ram Madhav asserted. He added that India is improving infrastructure in Ladakh at a very rapid pace and will continue to do so.

There is absolute truth in what Ram Madhav has said and in what the whole of India believes. Ladakh has been part of India for over a century. The Dogra ruler captured the region in 1834. After independence, Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession and made Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was created in 1921 and came to power in 1949 much after the boundary between Tibet and Ladakh had been finalised by the British through the Simla Convention of 1914. The CCP has forcefully annexed its own mainland and many adjoining regions like Tibet, East Turkestan, Mongolia etc. It definitely has no claims on these annexed territories, what to talk of Ladakh or any other Indian territory.

Even if one concedes a small edge in military capacity to China, it is the professionalism of the Indian Army, its commitment to the nation and its noble legacy that will prevail. The PLA is a politicised force used more for keeping the iron control of the CCP on the subjugated people, especially China-Occupied Tibet (COT) and China-Occupied East Turkestan (COET).

Indian citizens have every reason to have faith in the Government and the Army who are taking all necessary actions to safeguard national interest and sovereignty and are achieving great success in their endeavours. The need of the hour is to stand by them and boost their morale.

Excellent article ! My only additional comment is that the Indian army is also fully trained and equipped. They have air dominance and also the support of the Indian people and the leadership of the Modi government.

PM's speech was inspiring. He also made the point that because India has been tolerant does not mean that they not prepared for a good fight. That speech plus the cancellation of Chinese apps has made them change their minds. Hence, the Chinese ambassador's speech about have Indian and China have been friends for thousands of years!

Focussing on peace and prosperity is India's goal, not expansionism, as rightly pointed out by Modiji.

Writers like Jaibans Singh with flawed and misleading information are the cause of the rut india is in right now.
If Indian Army is that capable (as the writer and some commentators claim here) then how come they are begging Chinese to give their "claim maps" to india, this proves that the Indian Army has no legal or moral claim on the land they surrendered to Chinese without even putting up a fight.
Could some one explain that what is meant by the writer when he says "Even if one concedes a small edge in military capacity to China"...... what small edge , is he blind to see the over whelming military hardware china posses and makes almost all of it in house unlike india who is running like a head less chicken going door to door begging for armaments... you call this "preparedness"?....barat is on your door steps and you are now trying purchase the dahaige?
what happened to the claims of bippin rawat that "india is ready for a two front war" ?
Seems like every one was lying including modi and his side kick ajit duval.
Now modi is facing increasing domestic pressure over the loss of the Indian soldiers. modi has taken a soft tone on the border clashes with China, quite unlike his usual approach to Pakistan. Traditionally, India has bashed Pakistan over tensions on the Line of Control, in the same Kashmir region. This has, too, increased anti-Pakistani sentiments in India, and ultra-Hindu nationalists have started holding responsible Pakistan for all their problems.
Ahead of his re-election campaign in India, modi’s anti-Pakistan rhetoric doubled up, publicly threatening Pakistan during his jalsas and rallies. As a result, the hindu nationalists became used to his strident nationalism, and they expected modi to do the same regarding clashes with China, which has not been the case. This has led many nationalists, as well as opposition parties in India, to bash modi over the Ladakh fiasco.
In a sense, however, the Ladakh standoff is precisely the result of Indian nationalism against china. India’s defeat at the hands of Chinese in 1962 is still fresh in Indian minds, and the build-up in infrastructure along the disputed border was likely an attempt to prevent another embarrassing loss.
I would suggest to the readers here to try and listen to Prawin Sawhney when he says " Modi government should favourably consider the option of talks with China at ministerial or summit level. Without adequate military power, India’s options in the Ladakh crisis are narrowing by the day. This is the only reality."

This is how an article on this subject should be. Apart from the motivational factors the author has considered here, there is another factor that is equally important- the lack of battle experience of the Chinese troops vis a vis the battle hardened Indian troops. And as is recognized by military experts all over the world in wars it is the man behind the machine that matters. This truth is borne out even in the recent encounter at Galvan. While India has declared its casualties and given honorable farewell to its martyrs, China has not only not admitted its casualties but have not even carried out their last rites for fear of the figures getting exposed.

Now, there are two paid agents of scamgress, ISI, ISIS, call them what you will or simply traitors-Ajay and Observer- who have been doing an honest job for their pay masters.

Ajay forgets that it is not the current leadership that lacks the qualities of courage and righteousness but those of the treacherous first family of the scamgress, starting with Nehru to its current heir, pappu.

Observer is as shady a character as his identity reveals. He may not be even a paid writer because chances are that he is pappu's half brother. The similarity of their comments are too stark to be missed.

Please first check up your eyes then your spectacle and instruments used for observation. And where is your observation post located? Is it at the indo China border or other side in Chinese territory or at Lutyens road in Delhi or from the tower of a mosque in Pakistan?
Who are you to judge the claims of the author of this article? What experience do you have in the army? Have you served the Indian army and if so for how many years? How many battalions you have commanded?

The writer of this article is a very reputed senior commissioned officer ( now retd) , and his vast experience is far more than that of Ajay Shukla who quit the army prematurely after 14 years of army service..To know the taste of chillies or salt or Apple , you have to actually taste it . A description of these items gives a very limited understanding of it . To sum up , you don't have battle experience , so it will be wise on your part to keep your mouth shut , so that others will not laugh at your ignorance on military matters.

I feel that my observations and comments are reaching the intended audience as the reactions of the above two salty persons shows clearly that they aren't too happy to see and read the truth.
This is so common among modi's followers and specially among gujjuz that any person that does not agrees with modi's fascist thinking is a traitor or an ISI agent even people like Ajay Shukla or Prawin Sawhney are looked down upon as they speak the truth and put facts before fiction.
Let me ask them about the recent debacle where Iran and Nepal literally kicked india out of the game , is this called statesmanship ?
Who stands isolated now?
Russians too showed india the door!

@ Shri Pannikath Krishnanunni,

Glad you are back to take on our friend the Observer. What he is expressing is a type of wishful thinking. He wants Iran and Nepal (and ofcourse China) to 'kick India out of the game' and so he presents this as fait accompli.

Likewise, his opposition to Modi has a surreal quality, because the present situation shows Modi at his statesman like best, plus the
way he made it clear in his Ladakh speech that expansionism will not work in the contemporary world, nor will totalitarianism. His repeated advice to China is to focus on development, as they did at a certain period of their history. Unfortunately, Xiji Ping has developed an authoritarian appetite for power.

You" Any person that doesn't agree with Modi's Fascist thinking is a traitor"
Recent debacle where Iran kicked India out,--- is this statesmanship"

In the first place,it is pertinent to point out that the issue is on Indo_ china relationships and not a dispute about Fascism. It would be appropriate to stick to the issues discussed by the author in this article. Despite raising an issue not discussed by the author , the topic of Fascism shall be examined in brief.

Fascism first arose in a country that is 99% Catholic and the seat of papacy .Pope Pius XI had secret communication with Italian dictator Mussolini . According to noted anthropologist David Kertzer , Fascism was inspired by the Catholic tradition-- authoritarianism , intolerance of the opposition and profound suspicion of the Jews. These characteristics of Fascism are also exhibited by Communists the world over and also by Congress party of India.
The Emergency of 1975 imposed by Indira Gandhi is one of the best examples of Fascism. In 1984 the congress goons massacred more than 5000 Sikhs .The most recent example of intolerance is the attack on Arnab Goswami of Republic TV , for merely calling Sonia Gandhi by her original Italian name and for her silence on the murder of a sanyasi in phalghar dist of Maharashtra. Kerala's CPM is notoriously famous for hounding out their political rivals .

Regarding Iran, the Times of India ( ANI jul 16 2020 ) reported thus " Iran has refuted an Indian news paper report claiming that New Delhi has been dropped from the Chabahar rail project. One of the deputies of port trust ,Farhad Montesar said that the story is totally false"
The report of TOI shows that your contention that India is kicked out by Iran is false and politically motivated bias.
More than 25 countries including US and Australia and Japan have given support to PM Modi , indicating his statesmanship and adroit diplomatic calibre. Modiji , however does not rely solely on the assistance of these countries , and has encouraged Indians to follow Atmanirbhar Bharat , which in short means,- to achieve self sufficiency through self reliance

You can lead a horse to water , but you can't make it drink!

This proverb fits 100% to the readers/commentators (most of them) here, you guys live in make believe world of lies and myths, this is a fact that In the 1930s, hindu nationalists collaborated with key figures in Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany in order to help advance their extreme right-wing projects. In the 1930s, hindu nationalists collaborated with key figures in Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany in order to help advance their extreme right-wing projects. One of the pioneers of hindu nationalism, V.D. Savarkar, once wrote that India should model its approach to its “Muslim problem” on that used by the Nazis to deal with their “Jewish problem” and this is EXACTLY being carried out in india now a days.
India has been isolated in the region because of the fasict policies of modi , he has been lying to indian public ever since Chinese conquered Laddakh without firing a bullet and to cover one lie they are telling thousand more lies and the "hospital visit" by the drama queen is just another extension of lies he has been spewing ever since.
China has been offering india to join the peace and development of the region by its various programs and the whole south west Asia has already joined except india and it will be left out in the cold with their nose pressed up against the window panes.
In his anti Muslim fervor modi is going out of the way to join western countries at the expense of its own security and well being of its people and irony here is that indian people are just acting as by standers and are oblivious to the danger that is lurking around them.
When I read the comments here I just shake my head in disbelief at that a nation could be that dumb !

@ Shri Pannikath Krishnanunni,

Observer is repeating the canards spread by the liberal/left /Congress opposition since many years ago. An excellent article by Arjun Ram Meghawal refutes these canards about Savarkar:

'Savrakar's Life and Work Can Guide Us Today' in Indian Express, May 25, 2020 and reprinted in Bharata Bharati June 7, 2020.

It is a detailed article. I shall present briefly its main points:

I. Concerning the canard that Savarkar was opposed to Muslims and put forward the 2 Nation Theory. That theory was put forward by Syed Ahmed Khan (then taken up by Jinnah).

Savarkar put forward the idea of a United India where Hindus and Muslims could bury their differences and build a constitutional Hindustan. This in his presidential address at the 1939 Hindu Mahasabha annual session held in Calcutta.Social

II. His advocacy of social reforms:

1. Remove excusive access to the Hindu Vedas.
2. Remove the criterion of virtue by birth, especially for the professions.
3. Remove practice of Untouchability.
4. Remove objection to crossing of the seas to foreign lands.
5. Remove objection to reconversion to Hinduism.
6. Remove objection to intercaste dining (well known that he actively practised this in his own social interaction).

III

His devoted and consistent goal of Independence for India.

It has occurred to me while reading 'observer's ' comments that there are two or three observers, the style of the latest one being somewhat different from the other two, the Muslim, the 'fake' poster.

The present one that you replied to, may well be someone who has borrowed the name 'observer.'

At any rate, it is important that you continue to respond to these interlocutors, with facts.

No nationalist or sensible person like Veer Savarkarji will ever propagate the two- Nation theory. So far as Mr Observer is concerned, both of us have vital clues about his identity . I shall prepare a befitting reply . When someone like him is unable to counter facts,he/ she will resort to rhetoric or intellectual jargon like the inspirer of Muslim terrorism, Zakir Naik. This man used to quote the chapter number verse number paragraph number etc of the Vedas and gullible Hindus feel flattered by his memory and knowledge ( bookish) and like some congress politian start calling him "JI" . Glad that finally Observer has confirmed that the 3 personas are one and the same. However, this means that there are 3 conflicting voices within him. There is therefore, a serious identity crisis for this non practising Muslim (his own words) with Hindu ancestors(his own words).

This is troubling simply because in addition to the Left/Liberal opposition Bharat has people who cannot seriously identify with Bharat. Ofcourse, as Govindan pointed out elsewhere (on another thread) Modi will be re elected and Bharat will emerge out of the weight of the two Occupations (Islamic and Colonial). This last line is mine.

Additionally, China's expansionist and totalitarian ambitions will also be dealt with.

You" you can lead a horse to water, but you can never make it drink"
This wise saying that you have quoted is more aptly applicable to you as you will continue to deny all the good work done by the Indian army and by the Modi govt.
A statesman is a respected, skilled and experienced leader. He is more than a mere politician. Politicians are thought of as people who will say or do anything to get elected or to gain power. On the other hand,a statesman is some one who does everything for the common good of the people he represents. Here are some good works the Modi Sarkar has done

About 10 crore families were given health care insurance cover of upto 5 lakhs under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Around 8.8 crore toilets were constructed to eliminate open defaecation under the Swatch Bharat scheme. 530 districts across 24 states achieved open defaecation free status.
Ganga cleaning: As per published data 12000 MCD of sewage is generated in the Ganga Basin. In the UPA period 2013 , the treating capacity was only 485 MLD . After the Modi govt came in 2014 , by 2018 it increased to 4000 MLD.
2,48000 km of optical fibre connected 3 lakhs villages to high speed broadband services. During UPA period it was only 350 km
20 crore rural houses got electrified,16 states achieved 100% electrification.
6 new IITs ,20 AIIMS and 8000 CBSC schools got approved.
1.25 crores houses constructed for the poor under PMAY scheme. This is five times the number built under UPA tenure. 5 crore women got LPG connection under the Ujjwala scheme.
On the economic front ,1.3 lakh crores recovered from bank loan default and over one lakh crores black money recovered. India's rank in ease of doing business improved from 142 to 77 and Global Competitive index from 71 to 39 th place. Forex exchange reserves surged from 290 billion dollars to 400 billion. Currently Google is planning to invest 75000 crores in India to boost the digital economy. Apple supplier Fosconn is likely to invest one billion in India by planning to shift from China. A railway project of 417 crores - a tie up with Chinese firm has been cancelled since the Chinese company failed to finish the work within the stipulated time. Only 20% of their work was completed.

In the international stage , India got elected to the UNSC security council , with 184 out of 192 votes which is more than 2/3 rd minimum needed. .MEA secretary, Sri Vikas Swarup said" the strong support by UN members for India's election demonstrated the goodwill India enjoys in the UN , and the confidence that the International community has reposed in India's capabilities"
This is what 56 inches has done for the country . Don't measure Modi by his 56 inches chest .His army has more than 56 inches and they have given China a bloody nose .

If modi is such a great Staes person then why ALL of its neighbors are shunning india , recent booting of india out of Iran should be an eye opener for modi lovers and not to mention Russia here when they showed rajnath the door along with the shopping list he was carrying.
modi was thumping his chest ( I will not mention the dimensions here) that he will make Pakistan stand isolated in the world and look who stands isolated now , which gives USA a full control on the future/destiny of india as they will now only be getting armaments from USA/Israel and we already know how USA treats its "partners" (Pakistan is the best example) USA only looks after its own interest and discard them once their utility is done.
Can you see the new block being formed right in front of your eyes (China.Russia,Pakistan,Iran,Nepal ,Bangladesh,Bhutan) and if Turkey joins in too then game over for the rest, india once again is on the wrong side of the fence but only this time it will meet its final destination (back to the original 560 states) !

The latest news is that Russia is not attending the meeting on the initiatives(Belt Road etc.) sponsored by China. Russia will continue its supply of arms to India. India has undertaken serious road building on the Bhutan border. Iran, unfortunately has been in deep financial trouble since the US sanctions. China's promises to it will not be fulfilled. And the emerging block of Europe, U.S., Japan, Phillipines, and the South East Asian countries will hold China's territorial and totalitarian ambitions in check. Russia will not completely join China. Pakistan doesn't count anyway. Not clear that Bangladesh will abandon its watch and wait policy. The Ughurs will not give in easily, despite their persecution by China. Turkey can huff and puff but does not have real power. China's attempts to prevent the dollar from continuing as the international currency will not succeed.

Once again Observer is engaging in wish fulfillment. Bharat has survived in the face of invasions and Occupations, owing to its civilisational superiority. The achievement of the Indian Constitution will continue. And as predicted by most Hindus and as Govind put it nicely on the other thread, Bharat will emerge as a strong Hindu Rashtra. And yes the distinctness of each state will flourish as it did in the past. It is up to the Muslims of India to participate in this project.
Failure to do so will be their own loss, not Bharat's.
